In short: Sophos CISO Advantage is a security strategy service delivered through Sophos Fusion and launched in October 2026. It uses AI-assisted assessments of your live environment to map controls against frameworks including Cyber Essentials Plus, NCSC CAF, NIST CSF and CIS v8, then produces a prioritised, budget-aligned roadmap, tracks progress and creates board-level reports.
What is Sophos CISO Advantage?
A chief information security officer (CISO) turns technical findings into a plan the business can fund and follow. Most small and mid-sized UK organisations do not have one, and many larger ones have a CISO without enough analysts to keep a risk register current.
Sophos CISO Advantage packages that strategic work into a repeatable programme inside Sophos Fusion. Sophos describes it as using agentic AI combined with human judgement: the system assesses your environment, maps it against recognised frameworks, and turns the gaps into a prioritised plan and reports that leadership can act on. You can run it in-house, with the system guiding your team, or have it delivered as a managed service.
It is not a replacement for detection and response. Sophos MDR deals with attacks happening now; CISO Advantage deals with reducing the chance and impact of the next one.
How it works
- Baseline assessment. CISO Advantage draws on data from your live environment, your business context and Sophos threat intelligence, rather than a generic questionnaire alone.
- Framework mapping. Your controls are mapped against security frameworks, showing where you meet each requirement and where the gaps are.
- Prioritised roadmap. Gap analysis and benchmarking against industry peers become a plan that shows what to fix first, why it matters to the business and where to invest, aligned to budget.
- Progress tracking. It is an ongoing programme rather than a one-off assessment, showing how control effectiveness and risk change as you work through the plan.
- Board reporting. Technical results are translated into business-focused reports for directors and senior leadership.
Frameworks, including UK ones
| Framework | Why it matters to UK organisations |
|---|---|
| Cyber Essentials Plus | The UK government-backed certification with independent technical verification, required for some UK government contracts; see Cyber Essentials Plus |
| NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) | The National Cyber Security Centre's outcome-based framework for organisations that run essential services and critical national infrastructure |
| NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) | A widely used international framework for structuring a security programme |
| CIS Controls v8 | A prioritised set of practical technical controls |
The inclusion of Cyber Essentials Plus and NCSC CAF is useful for UK buyers, who can track progress against the standards they are actually asked about. If you have not yet certified, our sister site explains the Cyber Essentials requirements and the certification process.
Availability and licensing
- Launched in October 2026, with roll-out starting in North America, the UK and the rest of Europe, and global availability expected by the end of 2026. Sophos says it is being rolled out in select regions first, so we confirm availability for your account
- Delivered through Sophos Fusion (formerly Sophos Central)
- Licensing: an annual term licence, or a monthly subscription through Sophos's MSP Flex programme
- Delivery: run by your own team with the system's guidance, or as a managed service through a partner; Sophos says you can start with a provider and bring it in-house later, or move to a continuous managed service
- CISO Advantage Plus: an enterprise version adding convergence, risk and governance capabilities is planned for mid-2027. It is not available yet
Pricing depends on your organisation and delivery model: contact us and ask us for a quote.
Who Sophos CISO Advantage suits
- Organisations with no CISO, where the IT manager or a director carries security responsibility
- Boards that want evidence of progress, not a list of alerts
- Businesses facing supplier assurance or insurance questionnaires that need a defensible view of their controls
- Organisations working towards Cyber Essentials Plus or CAF alignment that want one plan rather than a spreadsheet per framework
- Existing Sophos customers who already have their data in Sophos Fusion and want to turn it into a strategy
How it fits with the rest of the Sophos portfolio
CISO Advantage sets the direction; other services do the work:
- Sophos MDR or Sophos XDR for 24/7 detection and response
- Sophos Endpoint editions, Sophos Firewall and Sophos ITDR for closing technical gaps the roadmap identifies
- Sophos Next-Gen SIEM for long-term log retention and compliance dashboards
- The Sophos Security Services Retainer for testing and assessments that validate progress
- Sophos Managed Risk for vulnerability management, and staff training through our security awareness training site
We can deliver the programme with you: running the assessment, agreeing priorities, carrying out the remediation work and presenting the results to your board.
How Forever Systems supplies and supports Sophos
We supply and support the Sophos portfolio for UK organisations, from a single Sophos Endpoint (Intercept X) licence to a fully managed Sophos estate across endpoint, server, firewall, email, network and managed detection and response.
- Scoping and licensing: the right products, tiers and add-ons for your users, servers and risk, and a clear view of how the old Intercept X names map to today's Sophos Endpoint, EDR, XDR and MDR
- Deployment and migration from other endpoint, firewall or email products, or from older Sophos products and on-premises consoles
- Policy tuning so protection is strong without blocking legitimate work
- Ongoing support: alerts, health checks, updates, renewals and licence true-ups in Sophos Central (now becoming Sophos Fusion)
Forever Systems Ltd is an independent IT and cyber security provider. We also supply alternatives such as Cisco Secure Endpoint and Check Point Harmony Endpoint, so our advice is impartial.

Is Sophos CISO Advantage available in the UK?
Yes. Sophos began rolling it out in October 2026 across North America, the UK and the rest of Europe, with worldwide availability planned by the end of 2026. Contact us to confirm availability for your account.
Which frameworks does Sophos CISO Advantage support?
Sophos names NIST CSF, CIS Controls v8, Cyber Essentials Plus and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework.
How is Sophos CISO Advantage licensed?
As an annual term licence or as a monthly subscription through Sophos MSP Flex. Ask us for a quote.
What is Sophos CISO Advantage Plus?
An enterprise version adding convergence, risk and governance capabilities, which Sophos plans for mid-2027. It is not available yet.
Do we need our own CISO to use Sophos CISO Advantage?
No. Sophos designed it for organisations with or without an in-house CISO. Without one, an IT manager or director can run it with the system's guidance, or a provider such as Forever Systems can deliver it as a managed service.
Is CISO Advantage a virtual CISO service?
Not in the sense of a named person. It is a structured, AI-assisted programme that your team runs with guidance, or that a provider delivers for you as a managed service.
